Slurs Type 3. Potential collisions between slurs and other elements.

The most common problem with slurs concerns the need to avoid crossing other elements of score markup.

In the Bach Prelude in A Minor, Ex. #20, the placement of slurs in relation to fingering numbers, crescendos, ornamentation signs, and dynamics markings requires considerable forethought.

Note the different vertical arrangement of these elements in the two solutions (a and b) shown.
